Checkers

Entering Checkers Mode

ChessUp allows users to play checkers in a player vs player mode (AI coming soon). To enter into checkers mode place the checkers (sold separately) onto the dark squares of rows 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, & 8. The white pieces go on the blue side (rows 1, 2, 3) and the black pieces go on the green side (rows 6, ,7 ,8). The board will then flash these squares to indicate that checkers mode has been entered.

Game Play

White goes first in checkers just like in chess. To see the legal moves simply touch a piece. When you complete a move the destination square will blink blue to confirm the move. If you move a piece to an illegal square, the square will flash purple and the game is prohibited from continuing until you correct the issue (returning the piece back to it's origin).

Double Jump

In order to complete a double (or more) jump the user must release the piece at each intermediate jump locations before proceeding to the next jump. Once released the next jump location will light up indicating that the jump can continue. Once the jumps are complete remove all the pieces that were jumped for the game to continue.

Kinging

When a player reaches the opponents back row their piece will be kinged. The kinging square will blink (green for black and blue for white) to tell the user to place another piece of the same color on top the kinging piece. This piece can now move in any direction which makes it very powerful.

Game Conclusion

A game can conclude in one of two ways. The first way is when one person loses all their pieces. When this happens the board will do a celebration that explodes out from the piece that performed the winning jump with the winning sides color (green for black and blue for white). The second way to win is when a person has no more legal moves. The other side is the victor. A different celebration is provided which explodes from the center with growing squares in the color of the winning side.

Forced Jumps

At this time the board does not enforce forced jumps. A player can choose to not jump an opponent. This will be made an option later in the app.
